Hence the Arya Samaj works against the malpractices of the society like caste based discrimination and sati. As it was established in the pre independence era, it was also a movement to spread the thought of free India. It also condemns certain popular Hindu practices like idol worship and ancestor worship, not prescribed by the Vedas.
